Find out more about the Albert Einstein Discovery Center Ulm Association and its goals.

Who We Are

To pay tribute to Einstein’s significant contributions to society, Ulm is launching a major international project with the aim of establishing an Albert Einstein Discovery Center in the city center!

This project is spearheaded by our non-profit association “Albert Einstein Discovery Center Ulm e.V.”, which was founded on September 16, 2016.

Our association “Albert Einstein Discovery Center Ulm e.V.” consists of members of all ages with different backgrounds, from teachers and lawyers, politicians and engineers, to physicists, students, pharmacists, marketing experts, filmmakers, children, tax consultants, store owners, housewives, doctors and architects. Our initiative is mainly supported by local citizens, but we have also been able to attract enthusiastic members from all over Germany, Europe and around the world.

We are working at all levels to make the Albert Einstein Discovery Center a reality. These range from political and financial support to the economic underpinning of the project and educational concepts.

What We Want

Albert Einstein was born in Ulm on March 14, 1879. He is one of the most famous people in the world. We want to establish a worthy memorial to him in Ulm. The Discovery Center should become a tourist magnet, a jewel and part of the science city in the middle of Ulm. We believe that this Discovery Center will promote the STEM subjects and thus become an important driving force for education and technology.

An Albert Einstein Discovery Center in Ulm pays tribute to Einstein and his significance for science, technology and society. We see it as our task to emphasize the importance of science and technology and to inspire young people to choose STEM subjects for their studies and careers. The aim is to establish a universal, extracurricular learning center with a comprehensive and modern view of Albert Einstein’s life and work within the historical context of Ulm.

In addition, the Albert Einstein Discovery Center and the city of Ulm will benefit from the planned collaboration with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, home of the Einstein Archive. Such a collaboration would result in more intensive research cooperation between the universities of the two cities. It would also help to build cultural bridges between Einstein’s birthplace Ulm and the last home of his intellectual legacy, Jerusalem.

Thanks to its uniqueness, the Discovery Center with its innovative concept and its location in Ulm will be a visitor magnet for locals, students, Einstein enthusiasts and tourists from all over the world.
